Artistic Director ADAM LAMOTTE is becoming well known to audiences throughout the country as a leader of both period and modern ensembles. He has appeared as soloist, concertmaster, and conductor of numerous orchestras. As violinist and violist, Adam has been hailed by critics as an "especially compelling" and "superb violinist" with "exceptional talent," whose performances are "energetic and exquisite."
MONICA HUGGETT, recently appointed Director of the Early Music Program at Juilliard, performs as solo violinist and director of numerous orchestras throughout the world. An accomplished recording artist, she won a Gramophone Award in 2002, and was nominated again this year. She co-founded the Montana Baroque Festival in 2003, and loves coming to Paradise every summer to soak in the hot springs and play music.
Known for his stunning blend of dazzling virtuosity and colorful expressivity, MATTHIAS MAUTE is recognized as one of the foremost recorder players of his generation, and has earned an international reputation for his formidable talents as a traverso player as well as a composer. As the Artistic Director of Ensemble Caprice, he has developed some highly original programmes which include his own arrangements and compositions.
Violinist GREGORY EWER joined the Oregon Symphony in 2001 after eight years with the Houston Grand Opera Orchestra. Greg recently founded 45th Parallel, a dynamic organization that showcases renowned guest artists in collaboration with Portland musicians. Outside the classical realm, Ewer plays fiddle with the acclaimed Texas bluegrass band, Classical Grass, and the Irish ensemble, The Tulaigh Morh Trio.
Violinist CARRIE KRAUSE performs regularly with Apollo’s Fire, Seattle Baroque, and as concertmaster of New Trinity Baroque in Atlanta. She is a frequent recitalist in her hometown of Bozeman, Montana. On modern violin, Carrie performs as concertmaster of the Bozeman Symphony and as a founding member of the Meritage String Quartet. She maintains a full teaching studio and oversees student chamber music for her area.
VICTORIA GUNN PICH performed on period instruments as first violist in Reinhard Goebel's Musica Antiqua Cologne for four years before returning to the United States, where she joined the Portland Baroque Orchestra as Principal violist. She also plays in Nick McGegan’s Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and Arcangeli Strings. She can be heard on Deutsche Grammophon recordings under the Archiv label. Vicki lives in Carlton, Oregon.
JOANNA BLENDULF has performed as soloist and continuo player in leading period instrument ensembles in the United States. She currently performs with the Portland, Seattle and Indianapolis Baroque Orchestras, Musica Angelica, and others.
Her award-winning recording of the complete cello sonatas of Jean Zewalt Triemer can be found on the Magnatune label. Joanna recently spent her honeymoon in Paradise, Montana.
For more than 20 years, CURTIS DAILY has focused on the historical performance practice of baroque and classical music. He is the principal bassist with Portland Baroque Orchestra and a founding member of Seattle Baroque Orchestra. In addition to regular concerts with these orchestras he has performed with early music groups and festivals across North America, and has worked with many of the most distinguished artists in the early music field.
DANIEL ZULUAGA is native of Colombia. His interest in the early plucked-string instruments took him to the Early Music Institute at Indiana University where he studied lute under Nigel North. Much in demand as a continuo player, he frequently collaborates with groups such as Ensemble Elyma, Belgium’s B’Rock, Musica Angelica of Los Angeles, Portland Baroque Orchestra, Al Ayre Español, La Monica, Concord Ensemble, and Mercury Baroque.
